oh my god marcus damon is the most annoying character i’ve ever come across in the entirety of digimon.. i really hope he gets a fucking attitude adjustment soon because i’ll go insane if I have to sit through another 40 episodes of him being a self-entitled douche
I decided to revisit a previous design, A monkey bird Digimon called Sironaxmon http://kuepil.tumblr.com/post/44402085694/monkey-bird-fan-digimon-dodomon-canon I wasn’t really satisfied with how busy it all looked, the head/face became especially annoying. It didn’t help that Xaloccomon was much easier and funner to draw because it was less detailed than its previous form.
I started by looking up different primates and birds for inspiration. Frogmouths and Marmosets being two animals I adore, bonus points in that they seemed to be rarely used species for fan Digimon. Double Bonus points for the former being a weak flyer and the latter being able to make chirping-like noises.(at the very least the Pygmy Marmoset does as far as I know) As said on the paper, I’m still working on it, mostly in terms of anatomy, and proportions, but I like what I’ve got so far…
Although Xaloccomon will remain mostly the same, though I’ll probably alter it slightly to better compliment the new Frogmouth-y direction.
Colors later? I’ve stayed up too late..fix errors in text later.zzzzzzz
What episode was that again?
Frontier episode #8 “Odd one out.” http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/The_Odd_One_Out Where JP and Zoe try to help an ostracized Tsunomon be less of an outcast among his peers in a little Digimon school. Unintentionally exposing their own suckiness at making friends. XD
Some Dodomon, Dorimon and DORUmon doodles. Played around with some design variety, since Dorumon are the most common ‘enemies’ in my FDD. I think my personal favorite is the one-armed one, with the headpiece that sort of seconds as eyebrows. I like to imagine a lot of Digimon of the same species looking slightly different based on their personal experience and environment. Like, slight hints to what they may evolve into next as a result of those aforementioned factors, or something.
Dragofymon and human/pre-leviathan Alexis ZenosApologies if this appears twice on anyone’s dash. I wasn’t sure where to upload this, Will probably cross-post it from my DA-account. Cause I figure the latter would get more talking going.
It also feels like I should apologize for the gruesomeness of the panels, specifically the crushing and monstrosity—it’s not a very happy story. Same thing goes for a lot of my other fdd kids. Arguably a horror story I guess, what with the “Virus that wants to overwrite, and erase the original you to make room for something else” plot point?
This picture/link http://fav.me/d4mu1q1 provides some back-story for this series of panels
Finally came up with a design I liked for Steamandamon’s Champion form.(Although as seen in the picture, he has no name at the moment.) Steamandamon is a steam powered robot salamander that specializes in boxing. (though he does have long-range attacks. )
I was gonna save the top hat for the Ultimate/Perfect form, but I eventually found that it made the Adult/Champ look less like a lankier Steamandamon. Full colors, like the name, will come at a later date. But if there’s anything that feels lacking or something about the design, feel free to say so. idk (I’m personally unsure about the feet)
actually
what happens to the Digimon when their partner dies
that guy in Digimon Adventure 02 was the only one shown
buuut he didn’t exactly die so I can’t really count that
not to mention that it wasn’t shown what happened to his Digimon partner
There was one episode(#33?) where Miyako/Yolei left for a field trip and she entrusted Koushiro/Izzy with looking after Poromon(or his baby form?). When Izzy notices Poromon lethargic behavior Minomon explained that being in the real world is draining. I’m not sure if this would count as either a plot hole or an establishing difference between the 02 partners and adventure mon sense Gato and Pata had no such issues. Though the weakening could help handwave why Myotismon kept whipping their butts so consistently throughout his arc.(aside from also boosted by night or just plain ol’ plot fatigue)
Another thing he mentioned was that Poromon’s tiredness was also due to being away from Yolei/Miyako. (In this case a few days?) It’s due to this part that I’m assuming that Digimon partners eventually/or possibly immediately perma-die alongside their human partners. It may not be too farfetched sense the partner’s in the first two seasons seem to feel(at least to me) more like extensions of their human counterparts. (Like a conscience, or an entity of reassurance?)
It’s interesting that Oikawa’s partner isn’t shown again after the man’s sacrifice. (May have to double check this?) But it may help support my theory. Another thing to note is that after all these years Datirimon/Pipimon still has no official evo-line. (One would think they’d throw him some of the conventional plant-based mon based on his appearance.) Which may or may not be morbidly suggestive of the little guy’s ultimate fate.
Either that, or he immediately got partnered with someone else when Digimon partnership started becoming more common on Earth. A Partner Digimon could be just as likely to just leave earth altogether after their partner passes away sense there doesn’t seem to actually be a limit to how big the DigiWorld is. *Shrug* Sorry about rambling like this.
The answer bar doesn’t give enough word space :(. The style itself is adorable with those stubby fingerless limbs and cutesy proportions. I think my favorite is the little mole-y Talpidmon, followed closely by the grumpy looking Pengimon. This set-up does really well in expressing each character’s color pattern and basic design.(Pants here, skin here, face marking there..etc.)But my least favorite has to be Koraimon. Mostly because the latter doesn’t really read as Beetle/Blitzmon’s rookie save for the symbol and color scheme.(Though, I do really like his patterns, the blue with yellow trim is perfectly Beetlemon-ish) The straight-on view here especially reads as something more reptilian or just overall not beetle-ish at all.
Though I guess the same argument could be made against Talpidmon, who is more mammalian than Ogre/Mineral. Another thing, I should consider that this is just one angle. I’m guessing he probably has a similar beetle carapace on his back like his stronger forms?
The lineless nature of the avatar makes his little horn close to impossible to see. (I didn’t notice it until I looked really really close at the monitor) Maybe make Koraimon’s horn longer to have it read better on the silhouette?
Sorry ‘bout this big rambling wall of text. Cause I let myself get too bugged about bug-mon
Hey! Sorry for such a late reply, and on a different blog no less!
It’s funny you bring up Koraimon. He was actually the one I had the most trouble designing. I was trying to go for some sort of robot samurai thing, and I’ll admit, he did turn out a bit reptilian (Though, that’s probably not a hard fix).
I could try adding more of Beetlemon’s armor patterns to make him more beetlemon-y. As for the horn, it’s a little easier to see in high-res (which tumblr butchered) but I can make the shadow more prominent. That would probably help a lot.
Thank you for the constructive criticism!
(BTW, your style is very familiar. You wouldn’t happen to have participated in an OCT on dA, would you?)
All I can suggest for Korai’s reptile face is to maybe either shorten/flatten his face. (If I recall correctly it does kind of poke out when shown at different angles—thus contributing to the aforementioned reptile look.) Or giving him a mask more similar to Beetle/Blitz or MetalKabuteri/Bolgmon. But that may sacrifice an expressive mouth. Though one can’t take away from the expressiveness of eyes alone, and a mask can be suggestive of an introverted and/or secretive character. I guess it could depend on what kind of Digimon Koraimon is, and whichever final design you feel most comfortable with.
And Yes :) I have participated in some OCTs on DA. I have a feeling you meant/were referring to TDC(The Digital Cup) specifically, since I also recognize Geopardmon from that very same tourney.

The ten legendary warriors…
… at child level!
Asides of Flamon and Strabimon, who are official digimon, I designed child-level fanmon for eight of the ten legendary warriors a while back.
I decided it would be fun to draw them all as little lineless avatar things. It was certainly fun! What do you guys think of them?
